About Survive and Stay Alive

Q: How do I register?
A:

Online registrations will be available in 2010 ~ we will be accepting registrations April 1st, 2010 for the new season of camp.

Q: How long is camp?
A:

Survive & Stay Alive is a Day Camp - our programming runs from 8:30AM - 4:30PM.  We do have early drop off (7:30AM) and late pick up (5:30PM) for your convenience.  The hour prior to and aftter our programming is free play time that is supervised.   The camp runs on a 5 day cycle (Mon - Fri) with the exception this year of one partial week (Tues - Fri) in August.   You may have your child attend more than one camp but our programming remains consistent from week to week.

Q: What are campers and parents saying about SASA?
A:

“Thank you for the best week of camp my kids have ever had, they were the dirtiest & happiest they have ever been attending this camp! I couldn’t get their “Survivor Shirt” off of them all week — THANK YOU.”

- Kim Houlahan

"My 2 boys attended Survivor Camp, summer 2004 and had a fantastic time, learning lots of things about the outdoors and survival. As an extra bonus, Christie and her staff were very accommodating in assisting the boys in meeting the requirements for MANY cub badges. They still talk about Survive & Stay Alive camp fondly, and can’t wait to attend this summer!"

- Michelle Parker, Quispamsis New Brunswick

"Each day Garrett would come home excited about an event that day. Some things were kayaking, working on their camp, or what to do if lost in the woods. He had a GREAT week and can't wait for the next time."

- Deborah Hampton, Quispamsis NB

Q: What is Survive & Stay Alive?
A:

Survive & Stay Alive is launching into its eighth year running day camps for kids grades K -5. in partnership with the Town of Quispamsis at the Hammond River Nature Park.

We will continue to do the "Crazy Fun" activities that campers have come to expect as well as providing a fresh new approach to teaching them how to "Survive and Stay Alive".

Survive and Stay Alive Program focuses on the 5 basic elements of survival:
Food... Fire... Water... Shelter...First Aid

All of this is presented in a fun and interactive way resulting in an exciting, adventure filled program that seeks to reconnect children with the outdoors.

Q: Do you give refunds for registration?
A:

If your child is asked to leave camp due to discipline issues than there is NO refund.  If you have to change your family plans,  we will give a full refund with 2 weeks notice of camp.  This allows us to fill your childs space.

Our 2 week notice for full refund may be waived by the camp director on an individual basis due to unforseen circumstances or family emergencies.

Q: How much does camp cost?
A:

Camp is $150.00 plus HST  for a total of $169.50 this year.   The cost includes your camp T Shirt!  Additional shirts are available if pre ordered, for $10.00  some parents want the extra T Shirts because the kids wear their shirts everyday and it makes for less laundry!!

Q: Is there a code of conduct?
A:

Yes!  We expect that all campers agree to the below listed code of conduct.  This is to make sure that ALL campers have FUN and stay SAFE.  Cooperation with and respect for those in authority is expected and required. • Students should behave in a safe manner, so as not to endanger themselves or others. • No swearing, alcohol, smoking, drugs or sexual misconduct. Any student not following the agreed upon code of conduct, will be asked to leave the training program and NO REFUND WILL BE ISSUED.

Q: What does my child have to bring to camp?
A:

Snacks and Lunch • Water Bottle  • Change of clothes (extra socks, please!) • Extra pair of shoes • Bathing Suit • Towel • Backpack • Sunscreen • Hat • Bug Spray • Jacket or Rain Coat • Disposable Camera (optional) • Boy Scout or Girl Guide Handbook (if badges are being earned)

Q: What do I do to become a CIT this summer?
A:

Our CIT Program has become very popular. With so many applicants it is impossible to give them any kind of preparation for the job of a CIT. They essentially hit the ground running. Some do very well. Others find it challenging.

Starting this year every CIT has to attend the 3 Day Training Camp. The cost is $90.00 and "successful completion" guarantees them 1 week as a CIT at one of our camps this summer. We are only accepting 20 applicants so if you're interested you'll want to apply soon.
